India today said that it has concrete evidence that the Pakistani Army mutilated the bodies of its jawans in Poonch. The external affairs ministry said that India has proof that the mutilation act was carried out by Pakistani forces and demanded action against those involved. Earlier today, the government had summoned Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit to express outrage over the ‘barbaric’ incident. |

Over 20,000 Indian workers stranded in Saudi Arabia will return to the country under a 90-day amnesty scheme. The Indian nationals were stranded in Saudi Arabia after travelling there illegally or overstaying their visas. The Indian embassy had appealed to the Indians, most of whom were blue collar workers from Tamil Nadu, to take advantage of the amnesty which is available in 21 locations across the kingdom. |
India has decided to cut oil imports from Iran by a quarter over the Farzad-B gas field row. India had ordered state refiners – Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, and Indian Oil Corp – to reduce purchases from Iran if an Indian consortium is not awarded the rights to develop Iran’s huge Farzad B natural gas field. |

The Committee of Administrators has said that it will move the SC if the BCCI takes any decision ‘against the interest of Indian cricket’. The stern warning by the CoA comes amid speculation that the BCCI is mulling a pullout from the Champions Trophy in England next month despite CoA making it clear that such a decision could not be taken without its consent. The BCCI will take a decision during its SGM on May 7. |
The White House today welcomed Infosys’ decision to hire 10,000 Americans in the next two years. IT giant Infosys plans to hire 10,000 Americans and open four new centres in the US as part of it efforts to mitigate the impact of H-1B visa curbs. The Trump administration welcomed the decision and called it a result of America’s “pro-growth economic agenda.” |
