| An Indian national was arrested in Islamabad, allegedly over incomplete travel documents. The Indian national, whose name has not been disclosed, was arrested from the F-8 area of Pakistan’s capital for not having complete travel documentation, Pakistan’s Samaa TV reported. A case has been filed under Article 14 of the Foreign Act and the man has been transferred to jail on judicial remand. |

| The Nuclear Suppliers Group is likely to meet next month but chances of India’s entry are slim. Ahead of the next NSG plenary session, official sources say, India has renewed its efforts to become a member of the 48-nation group by engaging with all member countries, but resistance from China still remains despite the pro-India push from other key players such as the US, the UK, France and Russia. India had officially applied for membership of the grouping which controls export of nuclear materials, equipment and technology in May last year. |
| The Centre said it would bring in a legislation to stop the triple talaq, if necessary. Union minister reiterated government’s stand today at an event in Bengaluru, adding that the Centre would do so only after allowing the Muslim community to reach a positive conclusion following internal deliberations. Naidu said Muslims, like Hindus who have put to an end so many social evils, should come forward and move towards ending triple talaq, which was against the interests of women. |

| Four terrorists were killed and three soldiers lost their lives in J&K’s Naugam. The fierce encounter began when alert troops intercepted a group of infiltrators near the Line of Control in Kupwara district’s Naugam on Saturday. While two terrorists were gunned down on Saturday, two soldiers were martyred in the operation. After battling the infiltrators for over 36 hours, the army killed another terrorist even as another jawan sacrificed his life. |
| Iran fired mortar shells into Pakistan’s territory, Pakistani media reported. Pakistan shares a 900 kilometre long porous border with Iran and the two countries had in 2014 decided to boost intelligence coordination to wipe out terrorists from the border region. Work on the Rs 20 million Pakistan Gate in Taftan along the Pak-Iran border was completed in 2016. Recently, the ties between the two neighbours got stressed after ten Iranian border guards were killed at Mirjaveh on the Sistan-Baluchistan border by a Pakistan-based Sunni terror outfit. |
