Madhya Pradesh’s chief minister said he will fast from today for the ‘restoration of peace’ in the state. Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s announcement of an indefinite fast comes after six people were killed in clashes with police on Tuesday during a protest by farmers in Mandsaur. Chouhan added that he will be available at the Dussehra Maidan in Bhopal from 11 am today so farmers can meet him todiscuss their problems. |

Naga rebel SS Khaplang, who formed one of India’s deadliest militant outfits, died of a heart attack yesterday. Khaplang founded the Bationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland. He had returned from China a few days ago after treatment and was heading towards his birthplace, which is close to the Indo-Myanmar border, when he died of heart attack. |
