Independence Day is celebrated on 15th of August with great zeal. The courage and sacrifice of our freedom fighters is remembered on this occasion. Flag hoisting ceremony, parades and cultural events are observed throughout India.

Festival of sacred bond of love between brother and sister, Raksha Bandhan is also celebrated in this month. Sisters pray for the long life and happiness for their brothers and brothers offer them gifts. Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi and Parsi New Year are also celebrated during this month.
