Irrfan Khan today revealed that he has been suffering from ‘neuroendocrine tumour’. The actor posted that he has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour, saying that although it has been difficult, the love and support of those around him had brought him strength. The government said there was no proposal to discontinue Rs 2,000 currency note, introduced post demonetisation in November 2016. The government also informed the Lok Sabha that it had decided to conduct field trials of plastic currency notes of Rs 10 in five cites. “There is no proposal under consideration of the government to stop Rs 2,000 note,” Minister of State for Finance P Radhakrishnan said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha to a question whether the finance ministry has any plan to stop the note in near future.
M Veerappa Moily landed in a controversy over a tweet suggesting money plays a role in his party deciding who gets the ticket for upcoming elections in Karnataka. The senior Congress leader denied posting it and said, “I have not done it”. “INC need (sic) to solve money in politics. We can’t afford to have contractors and their nexus with the state PWD minister determine how candidates are selected for the upcoming assembly elections,” said a tweet from a twitter handle that is not verified.

Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi has been sentenced to two years in jail for involvement in a 2003 human trafficking case. The singer was however granted bail. According to reports, Daler Mehndi, his brother Shamsher and others had been accused of illegally sending people abroad by disguising them as members of his troupe. In return, the complainants alleged that the accused had taken Rs 1 crore from them, and even failed to return the money when the deal never matured.
AAP’s Bhagwant Mann resigned from the post of party’s Punjab president after Arvind Kejriwal issued an apology to SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia. Kejriwal, on Thursday, in a letter retracted his allegations that former Punjab minister Majithia was involved in drug trade and apologized to him. “I am resigning as a president of AAP Punjab… but my fight against drug mafia and all kind of corruption in Punjab will continue as an ‘Aam Aadmi’ of Punjab,” Bhagwant Mann said in a tweet.
