| The Allahabad High Court has directed the CBI to arrest BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, accused in the Unnao rape case. The division bench passed this order when it was informed that the MLA is detained but has not been arrested yet. The UP government handed the probe to the CBI amid allegations that the administration was shielding the accused. | The apex Court has sent notice to the Bar Council of J&K for preventing filing of a chargesheet against the Kathua rape accused. Taking suo motu cognisance of the case, the Supreme Court also sent notices to Kathua District Bar Association and the High Court Bar Association at Jammu. The minor, from a nomad Muslim community, had been held captive, sedated and raped for several days before being murdered. |
| IT major Infosys reported a net profit of Rs 3,690 cr for the quarter ended March 31, up 2.4% from last year. The results were being closely watched, as this was the first full-quarter result under current CEO Salil Parekh.
