| Weightlifter Punam Yadav, shooter Manu Bhaker won gold medal in 2018 Commonwealth Games today. Yadav helped India win its fifth gold medal in the 69kg category weightlifting event. | India has called its 44 defence attaches from missions abroad to tap potential for defence exports. The initiative directed by <a href=”https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/to-push-exports-govt-calls-home-all-44-defence-attaches/articleshow/63662146.cms”>defence </a>minister Nirmala Sitharaman will bring the attaches up to speed on several areas that include exploring new defence markets and promoting ‘Make in India’. In India, the attaches are expected to interact with public and private sector firms, with the larger goal of promoting Indian defence exports. |
| There will be around 80,000 less seats in engineering this year, reveals AICTE data. Data reveals that technical education is not as sought after as it was a decade ago. In the last four years, the number of engineering seats have been reduced by 3.1 lakh. According to AICTE, as many as 200 ‘substandard’ engineering colleges have applied for closure. Most of these colleges had less than 20% enrolment in the last few years. |
