ISRO today successfully placed communication satellite GSAT-6A in orbit. GSLV Mk-II (GSLV-F08), carrying 2,140kg GSAT-6A, took off from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, at 4.56pm. It was the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle’s 12th flight and sixth with indigenous cryogenic upper stage. Read more

Darren Lehmann to step down as Australia head coach over the ball-tampering row. Lehmann was cleared of any wrongdoing by a Cricket Australia investigation after Steve Smith and David Warner were banned for one year while Cameron Bancroft was handed a nine-month ban. Anna Hazare today ended his fast after holding talks with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. Social activist Anna Hazare had been staging a protest in Delhi since March 23 for fair crop prices, Lokpal appointment and electoral reforms. On Monday, the Centre had reached out to Hazare assuring him that most of his “demands will be taken care of”.

Delhi Police said 25 people have been questioned so far in the CBSE paper leak case. In a press conference, RP Upadhyay, Special CP, Delhi, said that the police have registered two cases and also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. Upadhyay also said that both the papers were leaked a day before the exam on WhatsApp.
Justice Chelameswar, claiming Centre’s interference, shot off a letter to CJI asking him to consider convening a full court.

Senior-most Supreme Court judge Justice Chelameswar, in his letter written on March 21, cautioned that “the bonhomie between the judiciary and the government in any State sounds the death knell to democracy”.
