| BJP won nine out of ten Rajya Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh yesterday after SP-BSP bloc suffered cross-voting setback. BJP boosted its overall Rajya Sabha tally from 58 to 69 (winning 28 of the 59 seats for which results were declared). Congress won 10 seats, a loss of four seats from its current tally of 54. Under the Defence Procurement Procedure’s strict timelines for the FTP, which caters for urgent operational requirements, the RFP has to be issued within 10 days of a case being cleared by the Defence Acquisitions Council (DAC) to ensure the actual contract after the technical and commercial evaluation is inked within a year. The delivery of the weapons is supposed to thereafter take place in three to 12 months.

Elon Musk has deleted Facebook pages of Tesla, SpaceX after being challenged on Twitter. Verified Facebook pages of Elon Musk‘s rocket company SpaceX and electric carmaker Tesla Inc disappeared on Friday, minutes after the Silicon Valley billionaire promised on Twitter to take down the pages when challenged by users. Musk had begun the exchange by responding to a tweet from WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton on the #deletefacebook tag.

This would be the first time in the last three editions of the Commonwealth Games that a badminton player would don the flag-bearer’s hat. At the 2006 Melbourne CWG, Athens Olympics silver medallist shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who is presently the Union Sports Minister, was the Indian contingent’s flag-bearer.
