The most forceful storm to hit the US mainland in 12 years made landfall in Texas on Friday. Hurricane Harvey, a category-4 storm, lashed the US Gulf Coast with powerful winds reaching 215 km/hr, and driving rain. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar admitted to lapses in dealing with the situation post the Ram Rahim Singh verdict. CIA might have accessed Aadhaar data using cyber spying tools, Wikileaks claimed. The startling claim also said that the tools used were designed by Cross Match Technologies, the company that provides biometric solutions to the Unique Identification Authority of India. However officials said Aadhaar data is safely encrypted and not accessible to another agency, including suppliers of devices and softwares.

CBI has registered an FIR against Bihar-based NGO Srijan Mahila Vikas Samiti, that is at the centre of the Srijan scam. FIRs were also filed against the director and ex-director of the Bank of Baroda’s Saharsa and Bhagalpur branches respectively. So far, 15 persons have been arrested in the case. Government funds to the tune of Rs 950 crore were allegedly diverted illegally to the account of the Bhagalpur NGO.
The JD(U) has virtually initiated a process of expelling Sharad Yadav from the party. Party general secretary KC Tyagi in a letter to Yadav said, the latter’s participation in RJD’s August 27 rally in Patna, in violation of a party directive, will be seen as him voluntarily exiting the paty. JD(U) is also set to seek his disqualification as Rajya Sabha member after the rally tomorrow.
