| India and China continue to militarily reinforce their positions but there is no evacuation of border villages yet. There has been “some build-up” in terms of additional troops and tanks as well as artillery and air defence units in the Tibet Military District by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), but there is “no major or unusual mobilisation” towards the Line of Actual Control as yet to send alarm bells clanging in the Indian security establishment, sources said, adding that our well-acclimatised troops are currently deployed in the ‘no war, no peace’ mode. |

| Ten terror suspects with alleged links to Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) have been acquitted by a local court in the Hyderabad bombing case. This comes nearly 12 years after a suicide bomber blew himself up on October 12, 2005 in front of the police task force office in Hyderabad. While nine of the accused have spent nearly 12 years in jail, the tenth has been out on bail. The judgment said the prosecution failed to prove conspiracy charges. Also, the material seized from the accused did not amount to clinching evidence in the case, the judge added. |
| Madras High Court has stayed the CBI lookout circular against Karti Chidambaram. The court made it clear that Karti should give advance intimation to authorities about his foreign trips. The notices are unwarranted, Justice M Duraiswamy said, pointing out that on June 15, Karti had been asked to appear before authorities on June 29, but on June 16 itself the circular was issued. In the case of four others the LOC was issued on July 18 itself though they had been asked to appear before authorities only on July 20. |
