| The Kerala high court today ordered BCCI to lift the lifetime ban on cricketer S Sreesanth The court issued the order after considering a petition filed by the cricketer in March challenging the BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) decision not to lift the ban despite a Delhi court exonerating him in 2015. Sreesanth had contended at the high court that not lifting the ban, which was imposed on him for alleged spot fixing in IPL 2013, violated his constitutional rights. |

| Pakistan accused India and the US of being involved in conspiracy to sabotage the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan’s foreign minister Khawaja Asif said that India is “also supporting the conspiracies being hatched by Afghanistan against Pakistan.” The World Bank last week had said that as per the clauses of the Indus Waters Treaty, India is permitted to construct hydroelectric power facilities on the tributaries of rivers Jhelum and Chenab with certain restrictions, something which Pakistan opposes. |
| Six Trinamool Congress legislators, who were axed from the party last month, were formally inducted into the BJP today. MLAs Sudip Roy Barman, Ashish Kumar Saha, Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl, Biswa Bandhu Sen, Pranjit Singh and Dilip Sarkar joined the saffron party at a public meeting in Agartala. These six MLAs had resigned from the Congress and joined the TMC, protesting against the Congress’ electoral alliance with the CPI-M ahead of the 2016 West Bengal assembly election. However, last month, the TMC cut the relations with the MLAs. |
