| Six Congress members of Parliament were suspended from the Lok Sabha for five days. The MPs were suspended for their “highly unbecoming conduct” after they flung papers at the Chair and disrupted proceedings in the House while discussing the Bofors case and the recent spate of mob lynching and cow vigilantism. Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan suspended the six Congress MPs, G Gogoi, K.Suresh, Adhiranjan Chowdhary, Ranjeet Ranjan, Sushmita Dev and MK Raghavan. She said they undermined the chair’s dignity. |

| The NIA arrested seven people for allegedly funding terror groups in Kashmir. The seven arrested are Altaf Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Mehraj Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Naeem Khan and Bitta Karate. NIA had last month raided the Srinagar house of Shah, who is the son-in-law of separatist leader SAS Geelani. Apart from being the son-in-law of Geelani, Shah is perceived to be influential in the evolving the policies of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. |
| A powerful suicide blast in Pakistan’s Lahore killed at least 22 people. The blast occurred near residence-cum-office of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who was in a meeting at his Model Town office. Rescue teams have shifted the injured to hospital. Emergency has been declared in city hospitals. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast. Lahore, the cultural capital of Pakistan, has witnessed several terror attacks in recent years. |

| Convicts of the 2006 serial Nithari rape and murder cases were sentenced to death. Businessman Moninder Singh Pandher and his domestic help Surinder Koli were convicted of kidnapping, raping and killing 20-year-old Pinky Sarkar. According to the CBI chargesheet, Koli had confessed to having lured Pinky, who was returning from work, into the house on October 5, 2006, killed her, dismembered her body, and dumped the body parts in a drain. Police had discovered 19 skeletons from Pandher’s house in Nithari in Noida on December 29, 2006. |
| Iraq said it has no substantial evidence about the 39 missing Indians. “We don’t know whether they are dead or alive. We are equally concerned,” Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Eshaiker al-Jafari, who is on a five-day visit to India, said. After Iraqi forces recaptured Mosul from ISIS, India is seeking its help to locate the 39 missing Indian labourers, mostly from Punjab, who were kidnapped in Mosul three years ago. |
