The two leaders met informally on the sidelines of the G20 summit amid a lengthy stand-off between India and China at the border near Sikkim. External affairs ministry spokesman Gopal Baglay said that Modi and Xi discussed a range of issues without giving any specific details. |

| The CBI has filed a corruption case against Lalu and his family and raided several properties associated with them. It is alleged that Lalu Yadav as railway minister handed over the maintenance of two railway hotels to a company after receiving a bribe in the form of prime land in Patna through a benami company. The FIR, which was registered on July 5, also names Lalu’s wife Rabri, son Tejashwi, and other close aides. |

| The government today warned action against companies that do not print post-GST rates on their inventory. Consumer affairs minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that companies not printing the revised rates would be fined up to Rs 1 lakh and may also face jail term. Manufacturers have been allowed to clear the unsold stocks by September with new MRP. |
| The SC has suspended further counselling or admissions to IITs until the ‘bonus marks’ issue is resolved. The IITs had awarded bonus marks to all students for answering wrong questions in the entrance exam. The apex court said that admissions should be allowed only after deciding if the awarding of bonus marks was valid |
