The GST launch is scheduled for midnight on June 30 in a special Parliament session. “Midnight session of parliament was held only thrice starting with August 15, 1947. In 1972, session was held to mark silver jubilee and the third time it was for golden jubilee of our Independence,” Congress’s Ghulam Nabi Azad said, adding, “May be 1947 has no relevance for BJP because they played no role in freedom struggle.”
Indian Army should learn “historical lessons”, China warned India. The warning, an oblique reference to the 1962 war, came after it asked India to withdraw its troops from the Donglong area in Sikkim sector as a precondition for a “meaningful dialogue” to settle the boundary issue. The Donglong (Doklam) is a tri-junction area near the Chumbi Valley. It is under China’s control. However, Bhutan claims sovereignty over the area.
