India has asked Gulf countries to resolve the Qatar crisis through constructive dialogue. “We are of the view that all parties should resolve their differences through a process of constructive dialogue and peaceful negotiations based on well-established international principles of mutual respect, sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries,” the External affairs ministry said in a release. It asked Indian expatriates in the region to contact the Indian Embassy concerned should they require assistance.

Aadhaar will be mandatory for filing Income Tax returns from July 1. Those allotted PAN as on July 1 and have Aadhar number or are eligible to obtain it, shall intimate Aadhar number to Income Tax authorities for linking PAN and Aadhar, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement. The announcement comes a day after the Supreme Court upheld the validity of the law making Aadhaar mandatory for allotment of PAN and filing of I-T returns.
J&K’s youth is being instigated by a misinformation campaign on social media, Army chief General Bipin Rawat has said. General Rawat also said terrorism is the biggest challenge the country is facing and urged the cadets to be ready to deal with “the scourge”. “Pakistan is spreading disinformation among the youth of Kashmir with doctored videos and messages. This is further supported by some of the people in the valley who spread it and glamorize the young boys who have joined terrorist organisations,” Rawat said.

India’s plan to develop Chabahar port is facing the US headwinds. The state-owned Indian firm that is developing Chabahar is yet to award a single tender for supplying equipment such as cranes and forklifts. Swiss engineering group Liebherr and Finland’s Konecranes and Cargotec have told India Ports Global Pvt Ltd, which is developing the deep water port, they were unable to take part in the bids as their banks were not ready to facilitate transactions involving Iran due to the uncertainty over US policy.
Islamic State has threatened attacks in Saudi Arabia. In a video that appeared to have been recorded before the recent attack in Tehran, five masked fighters were shown threatening Shias in Iran as well as the Saudi Arabian government saying: “Know that after Iran, your turn will come. By Allah, we will strike you in your own homes … We are the agents of nobody. We obey Allah and His Messenger, and we are fighting for the sake of this religion, not for the sake of Iran or the Arabian Peninsula.”
