| A curfew will be imposed in several areas of Srinagar today. The curfew, which will be imposed upon seven police stations in the city, is to serve as a pre-emptive measure to prevent spread of violent protests which took place yesterday, following killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Sabzar Ahmad Bhat in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama. All educational institutions in the city will also remain closed on Monday. |

| The government is open to strategic disinvestment in Air India, Jaitley said. The finance minister added that the civil aviation ministry was exploring all possible options for the ailing state-run airline. This is the first clear comment from the government about the future of Air India. The Vajpayee government had made efforts to sell a stake in Air India but the plans fell through and Air India continued as a state-run entity. |

Relief materials along with rescue personnel were sent yesterday as the country faced its worst floods since 2003 that has displaced half a million by now. The incessant south western monsoon has caused havoc since Thursday night with people in 14 of the island’s 25 districts being affected. India, the first country to respond, dispatched three Navy ships with emergency supplies to help Sri Lanka in the rescue and relief operations. |

| India’s first three cases of the Zika virus were reported in Ahmedabad. The cases were reported between February 2016 and January 2017 in Ahmedabad, the WHO confirmed, adding that the virus was found in two pregnant women and in an elderly man. The detection and confirmation of the cases wasn’t made public by the state government, apparently because it came in the run-up to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investment Summit. |
