Protests have erupted in Gilgit-Baltistan against the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project. This comes right after China opened its major foreign policy initiative- the One Belt One Road summit in Beijing. Various students and political organisations protested the OBOR in Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu and Ghizer, describing the corridor as the region’s “Road of slavery.”
The International Court of Justice will today hold a public hearing on the Kulbhushan Jadhav issue. India and Pakistan will present their respective cases at the hearing. India has based its arguments on alleged violation of the Vienna Convention by Pakistan, citing repeated denial of consular access to Jadhav, sentenced to death by a Pakistan military court for alleged spying.

NCERT will review all its books as they were created over a decade ago and need to be updated. This is the first such exeercise since 2007. An official clarified, textbooks and curriculum were not being ‘revised,’ and NCERT was only reviewing the books in a systematic way, as there is a lot of information that needs to be updated.
The defence ministry is looking to create a specialised defence procurement organisation.
