The Election Commission said the EVMs used in the recent assembly polls will be used in the EVM tampering challenge. After an all-party meeting, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said, “The Commission has stated before the political parties that all the future elections will be mandatorily held with VVPAT.” The tampering challenge will be held in an opportune time, Zaidi said. |

The forex reserves touched a fresh life-time high of $375.71 billion, the Reserve Bank of India said. Foreign currency assets (FCAs), a major component of the overall reserves, rose by $2.474 billion to $351.53 billion in the reporting week, the RBI said. FCAs include the effects of appreciation/depreciation of non-US currencies, such as the euro, pound and the yen, held in the reserves. |
The Delhi High Court cleared an Income Tax investigation in the National Herald case involving Sonia Gandhi and Rahul. The case is based on a private criminal complaint filed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy in 2012. He accused the Gandhis and others of conspiring to cheat and misappropriate funds by paying just Rs 50 lakh to acquire a company worth more than Rs 2,000 crore. |
