Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Muslims to not politicise the issue of triple talaq. “Reformers from the Muslim community itself will come forward to fight what (our) Muslim daughters have to go through (in the name of triple talaq), they will find a way out,” said Modi.

The first direct London-China train arrived in China today after covering over 12,000 kilometres. The train, loaded with whisky, baby milk, pharmaceuticals and machinery, departed London on April 10 and passed through France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan during its 20-day trip before arriving in Yiwu. The route is the second-longest in the world, after China-Madrid link, which opened in 2014.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal acknowledged that he and his party made mistakes. “The reality is obvious. Yes, we made mistakes, but we will introspect and course correct…We owe that to voters and volunteers. We owe that to ourselves. Need is action and not excuses,” the AAP chief tweeted.

The Allahabad High Court suspended Justice Om Prakash Mishra for granting bail to Gayatri Prajapati, accused in a gangrape case. All powers of the Additional District and Sessions Court judge have also been seized by the court, after Chief Justice DB Bhonsle took a grim view of the bail granted to the Samajwadi Party leader by the judge. Gayatri Prajapati was a powerful minister in the former Akhilesh Yadav cabinet and held Mining and Transport portfolios.
India squandered the lead twice as Great Britain rallied to earn a 2-2 draw in the opening match at the 26th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament.
