| Supreme Court gave ‘future’ bail to a terror accused who has been in jail for 16 years. Gulzar Ahmed has since been acquitted in 10 of the 11 cases brought against him by UP and Delhi Police. His co-accused have been granted bail in the remaining one too, but Wani continues to be behind bars. “If the prosecution does not complete examination of witnesses by October 31, Wani will be released on bail on November 1, 2017 on the terms and conditions to be imposed by the trial court,” it ordered. |
| FCAT directed censor board to clear ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ with A certificate. Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) was of the view that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was “misdirected” in denying certification on the ground that the story of the film was women-oriented. It also rejected the contention that the film showed women in general and a particular community in bad light. “There cannot be any embargo on a film being women-oriented or containing sexual fantasies and expression of the inner desires of women,” it said. |
