The order effectively raises the bar for foreign guest workers used by US and Indian companies to do work that American workers were thought to be unwilling or unable to do. The move is expected to moderately affect the Indian IT industry. |

Petrol pumps in eight states will remain closed every Sunday from May 14 to conserve oil. Nearly 20,000 outlets in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Haryana would be shut every Sunday. The decision was made by the consortium of petroleum dealers following PM Narendra Modi’s call during his recent ‘Mann ki baat’ programme to conserve oil and save the environment. |
