St. Petersburg metro bomber has been identified as a Kyrgyz-born Russian with suspected Islamist links. The suspect Akbarzhon Jalilov was born in the city of Osh in 1995. Russian investigators believe he was blown up in the explosion on the train that killed at least 10 people. India has rejected US’ willingness to mediate in de-escalating tensions in India-Pakistan relations. Attacking Islamabad for its support to terror, the MEA said “terrorism emanating from Pakistan continues to be single biggest threat to peace in our region and beyond.” This comes after a top US diplomat said that US would “try and find its place in efforts to de-escalate India-Pak tensions.” |
Terror group ISIS orchestrated an assault with 17 suicide car bomb attacks to help its chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi flee Mosul. The assault briefly opened an escape route west of the city, just before Iraqi and Kurdish forces led their final charge on the city, almost two months ago. |
