| After Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, 4 more states ordered closure of illegal slaughterhouses. The crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses spread to four more BJP-ruled states- Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday. While three meat shops were sealed in Haridwar, 11 were shut in Raipur and one in Indore. Around 4,000 illegal shops face closure in Jaipur with the civic corporation announcing its crackdown on such shops and slaughterhouses from April. |
| Interpol rejected the Enforcement Directorate’s request for a red corner notice against Lalit Modi. Interpol is understood to have communicated that India needs to file for extradition before moving for a red corner notice. Modi also tweeted from his official handle a certificate endorsing such a stand by the Interpol which stated that he is not “subject to an Interpol Red Notice or diffusion and is not known in Interpol’s database.” |

| The Uttarakhand high court ordered ‘çomplete ban’ on all mining activities in the state for 4 months. The court directed the state government to constitute a high-powered committee to look into various aspects of mining activities and find out whether mining activity should be permitted in the state at all. The panel will also prepare a 50-year blueprint taking into consideration environment limits visa-vis mining operations. |
| Police staged a flag march to contain escalating tension between Africans and locals in Greater Noida. Police also filed cases against nearly 600 people for rioting and booked 44 people for attempt to murder on the basis of a complaint from the Nigerian Welfare Association.
